These two new LPs from Soul-Tay-Shus run the absolute gamut of the 60s soul style that Quezerque applied to a range of artists greater or lesser known. The breadth of his masterful empathy spans the Motown stylings of the Bates Sisters and Lydia Marcelle to the Stax soul styling of Sammy Ridgley and Guitar Ray. These LPs buttress the most upbeat and danceable tracks from the double CD (DEL 2CD 0038) with rarities that are seeing the light of day for the first time in 35 years. (For our overview of Quezerque’s equally distinctive 70s work, please check out Wardell Quezerque’s Funky Funky New Orleans DEL CD 0023).
