Funky Delicacies kicks off its program of rare and unreleased Richmond, Virginia funk (1976-1980) with Starfire’s Get Off With Us (DEL LP 0068) and Out Of The Ghetto (DEL LP 0069), and Poison’s Cosmic Dancing (DEL LP 0070). This is pure, uncut, unexpurgated Southern Fried Funk, with no pretenses to be anything else. While both Starfire and Poison have deep, laid back pockets intrinsic to Southern music, Poison has a more organic, stripped-down, tribal feel. Starfire's Get Off With Us and Out Of The Ghetto are the perfect companions with alternate versions on each album of “Dancing & Singing,” “Super Sensuous Woman,” and “Get Up Everybody.” Also, place both Starfire LP’s back jackets side by side to assemble an extra-large band photo.
