Veteran New Orleans keyboard player Willie Tee led this incredible band of funkateers who wove jazz and street rhythms into their Meters-styled funk. These 1970s recordings are legendary in acid jazz circles, and now the abundance of rare riffs and break beats within the songs have caught the attention of hip hop fans as well. This release is packed with previously unissued material and CD bonus tracks, and will appeal to fans of soul, funk, jazz or hip hop.
It is the coolest, smoothest, baddest, busiest, bass, drums, keyboards and guitar to funk its way up from the Bayou. Willie Tee musically and spiritually, takes you on a ride of funky ‘gator concentrate –especially in the track “Gator Bait” –to soothe your thirst for live, funky grooves. Tuff City Records released the Gaturs on its label Funky Delicacies from rare early 70’s recordings of the Funkateers, feat. Willie Tee on keys and vocals: all were recorded in New Orleans and ‘Gator Bait’ and ‘Booger Man’, in particular are Liquid Sound Lounge favorites.
