At The Happenin'

Willie Rodriguez was a pivotal figure in the transformation of Boogaloo, the popular latin music in the New York City during the early 60s, into what is now known as Salsa. On At The Happenin’ one can hear the Boogaloo cadences and rhythms turning into and merging with the Afro-Cuban based rhythm of what would be come Salsa. Not only is “At The Happenin’ an incredible vibrant and rhythmically explosive record but it is also a record of a moment when a musical form was just being born. 0riginally released off of the Fonseca label, Andale Records will be re-issuing “At The Happenin” for the first time since its original release.
