Out of the Ghetto: Get Off with Us

With Funky Delicacies' two vinyl album set devoted to Richmond Virginia based funkateers Starfire, a profile was portrayed of a band's singular devotion to extraordinary funkiness even as disco was beginning to encroach on the rest of the country. With the release of the CD, Starfire's funk is butressed by the inclusion of very pretty falsetto driven ballads not dissimilar to their slightly to the north counterparts in Philadelphia like the Stylistics. This album, taken substantially from master tapes, clocks in at a pristine and bountiful 71 minutes. It includes liner notes and recollections by the group's producer and mentor Joe Carter.
