Lee Rogers
Soul-Tay-Shus
STS CD 6347
Lee Rogers was to D-Town what Marvin Gaye was to Motown - a singer whose voice was rooted in gospel that rocked alongside soulful, funky dance grooves. "Sock Some Love Power To Me!" features the Billboard Top 20 R&B hit, "I Want You To Have Everything.," "You're the Cream of the Crop" (featuring legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson) as well as "Love For A Love," a 1967 track Lee recorded with the Hi Records rhythm section in Memphis (under the leadership of Al Green's future producer Willie Mitchell).
