DEL LP 0071
Bobby Love's "Rare Herbs" brings to light the career of yet another New Orleans musician whose local success should have been international. Keyboardist, flautist, arranger, bandleader: Love's CD counterpart cut a broad swath from the 60s through the 80s, from straight-up jazz to Rick James type electro-funk. The treasure trove here is a mid-to-late 70s bunch of recordings with his group the Uptown Rulers that offer the best, most precious examples of the New Orleans take on Bar-Kays style post dance.
